A message from Dr. Ealy...

Our spring semester has been filled with lots of learning and student success, and it's hard to believe that Spring Break is already right around the corner on March 16-20.  The month of February was jam-packed with Valentines Day, Black History Month activities, and Career & Technical Education (CTE) Month celebrations.

With the spring semester well underway, our students are busy with spring activities. Here are just a few highlights of some incredible accomplishments from recent weeks:

    • 167 Elementary and Junior High Students participated in Academic UIL, with 103 placing in an event, and 12 taking home a 1st place award.
    • Six Elementary and Junior High teams recently participated in the Capital Region Destination Imagination Tournament, and we are especially proud of our third grade team, who advanced to State competition next month.
    • Twenty-three elementary students participated in the Greater Austin Regional Science and Engineering Fair, and 7 received 1st place Ribbons.
    • Lady Tiger Basketball advanced to the playoffs.
    • Jose Soto and Hunter Scoggins were named Co-District Champions at Skills USA District 10 Competition in plumbing, and will advance to state competition.
    • Our SHS CX Debate team had an outstanding showing in a recent Debate, with Lily Gardella and Rosalyn Martinez qualifying for state.
    • Artwork by Jessica Hinnant and Kennedy Pietsch were chosen for auction as part of the Rodeo Austin Western Art and Photography competition.
    • Our band students took home a whopping 59 First Division medals at the solo and ensemble competition, and 40 qualified for State UIL competition.
    • The Smithville ISD Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) application received final approval from the Texas Education Agency, which will result in 25 teachers receiving a total amount of over $210,000 in this first year! Be on the lookout for big celebrations of these outstanding teachers a little later this spring.

As we approach the mid-point of the spring semester, it is important to make sure our students have every opportunity for learning. Good attendance is KEY!  Time away from the classroom can really affect student progress, and we appreciate your help in ensuring that students are at school and ready to learn each day.

We know education is a true partnership between schools and families, and we appreciate your support in making the remainder of the 2025-26 school year a wonderful experience for our Tiger family.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATIONS

The Smithville Education Foundation put on a PHENOMENAL event last week, hosting 36 teams for the 1st Annual Scramble FORE! Education golf tournament.  Some of our students even had the chance to play.  Early estimates indicate that the SEF event generated over $40,000 to support students and staff in Smithville ISD.

The money that is raised by the SEF goes toward educational programs at our schools, teacher grants, scholarships, and more!  Thank you to all who made this event a huge success!
