Dear Smithville ISD Community,

What an incredible time to be a Tiger! As we approach the final stretch of the school year, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for everything our students, staff, and families have accomplished together this year. From the classroom to competitions, Smithville ISD students have been shining brightly.

As we look ahead to the close of the school year, we have so much to celebrate! Award ceremonies, performances, athletic events, and graduation are right around the corner, and I look forward to seeing our families there to take part in these meaningful milestones. These events are not just celebrations -- they are powerful reminders of what we can accomplish when a community comes together in support of its children.

Family engagement is not just important to Smithville ISD... it is essential. When families are actively participating in their child's education, students thrive. We are grateful for each of you who have been involved in your student's education. Whether you volunteered, attended events or helped your child with homework, your presence and participation matter. We are grateful for the support of our families, and look forward to continuing to grow our partnership.

Over the past few weeks, one of the ways that we have been working to engage families is through our family survey, which is open through April 24. Feedback is vitally important for us to understand what is important to those we serve, and it directly informs the decisions we make as a district.  It also helps us understand how we are doing and where we can improve.  For those of you who have not already participated, I sincerely ask for you to take a few minutes to share your valuable perspective and input.  You will find the survey link here: LINK

Thank you for your continued trust, partnership, and commitment to making Smithville ISD a place where students discover their passions and are prepared for a bright future. It is an honor to serve alongside you.

Go Tigers!

BROWN PRIMARY FUN!

Our Kindergarten students entertained us all with their Texas Tribute Program where each class performed a different Texas-themed song and dance.

The Pre-K and Kinder "Round Up" was a huge success!  Future Tigers joined us to tour the campus and play some fun games with the teachers and staff.

New Student Registration will be held July 21st at Brown Primary School for incoming Pre-K and Kinder students.

APRIL SCHOOL BOARD MEETING

Here are a few highlights from the April Board Meeting:

  • The Board approved the purchase of 240 replacement desks for Smithville High School.
  • A Memorandum of Understanding was approved with Bastrop County Cares, outlining details about the implementation of a grant to prevent traumatic brain injuries. SISD intends to use these funds for improvements to the playground area of Brown Primary School.
  • An agreement with the City of Smithville was approved for the reciprocal use of facilities. SISD will now have access to the Rec Center and parks that are owned by the City, and the SISD gyms would be available for youth sport programs run by the City's Recreation Department.
  •  Mrs. Tiner, SISD Business Manager, provided a report on priority 4 of the SISD Strategic plan, focusing on the school's financial transparency. You can view the presentation online here: LINK
